In our last post we introduced this year's highlight: the new BloomCraft Organics line, which we're testing alongside Vinasse 5-2-2, Triacontanol and Frosty Buds. Today we compare the two philosophies behind them: supersoil and our new line.

Plants from our supersoil vs. BloomCraft Organics line comparison

Supersoil: when the soil does the work

At its core, supersoil is a living system. Compost, worm castings, guano, rock dust and other organic components are mixed in advance and left to mature over weeks. During that time, an active soil life of microorganisms, fungi and bacteria develops, continuously breaking down nutrients into plant-available forms.

The big advantage, in our experience: once properly set up, supersoil needs barely any extra feeding for most of the grow. The plant takes what it needs, at the pace of the soil life, and that often results in a remarkably stable, buffered supply.

The downside: supersoil is harder to standardize. Batches vary, curing time is critical, and anyone who wants to adjust something in an already "finished" system has a much harder time than with liquid feeding.

The new line: a system for every phase

This is exactly where our new BloomCraft Organics line comes in. Instead of depositing large amounts of nutrients into the substrate up front, we work with eleven coordinated products that support each phase specifically: Clones and Roots for a safe start and strong roots, Grow and Bloom as base nutrition, Ultimate PK, Faster Flowers and Bud Envy for the flowering and fruiting phase, plus N-Zymes for an active root environment and Cal-Mag+, Humivara and Flora Pure as universal additions.

The advantage lies in control: every phase can be fed differently and on purpose, levers like potassium or nitrogen can be adjusted independently, and dosing stays reproducible throughout the entire grow, batch after batch, watering after watering.

The price for that: you have to actively water, measure and adjust. Without the buffered soil life of a supersoil, more responsibility lies with the grower, which is exactly why our Academy puts so much emphasis on explaining EC, pH and dosing in an understandable way.

Two feedback loops compared: the self-running supersoil cycle and the grower-paced feeding cycle Supersoil Liquid feeding Soil life breaks it down Soil stores it Roots absorb it Grower watches and waters Measure (EC/pH) Dose Water Plant responds On the left, the loop keeps running by itself; on the right, the grower sets the pace step by step.
Both loops reach the same goal in different ways: with supersoil, the soil does the regulating, while with liquid feeding the grower takes on that job, and both approaches come with their own amount of upkeep.

Why we don't see it as either-or

For us, this isn't a competition with only one winner. Both approaches earn their place in this year's field test, which is exactly why we test them in parallel, under the same conditions, with the same strains, at many locations across Germany.

Our goal with the new line isn't to copy supersoil. We want to combine its strength, a stable, buffered supply, with the advantages of precise, phase-accurate feeding: targeted, easy to dose, and complemented by biostimulants like Triacontanol and Frosty Buds, which supersoil doesn't use in this form.

What this means for our field test

In practice, that means our supersoil plants largely run "on their own", while the plants on the new line get active, phase-by-phase support with the right products, including Triacontanol, Frosty Buds and Vinasse 5-2-2 for targeted help. Both groups get exactly as much extra work as their respective system requires.

In the next post, we'll take a close look at Triacontanol: what this active ingredient actually is, where it comes from, and why even the tiniest amounts are enough to create a noticeable effect.
